Description

Description

One QC Stamina pouch is 260 kcal: 42.2 g of carbohydrate, 13 g of protein, 4.4 g of fat and 221 mg of sodium. That is roughly two gels’ worth of carbohydrate plus the protein of a small meal, in one drink you mix inside the pouch. It is built for the hours of an ultra when gels alone stop being enough, or stop going down.

What’s in one pouch (65 g)

NutrientPer pouch
Energy260 kcal
Carbohydrate42.2 g
Protein13.0 g
Fat4.4 g
Sodium221 mg

Ingredients: maltodextrin, whey protein, medium-chain fatty acids, leucine, valine, isoleucine, calcium HMB, creatine, flavouring, vitamin B1, vitamin B2.

Allergen: contains milk.

How to use it

Pour about 150 to 200 ml of water or another drink into the pouch through the spout, close the cap, shake well and drink. During a long event, take one pouch every 2 to 3 hours or as needed, and follow the product label.

Mix it at an aid station or drop bag where you can refill water. Then carry on with your normal fluid plan.

Who it’s for

Trail ultrarunners, long-distance cyclists and anyone out for many hours, especially from the middle of the race onwards, when sweet gels get hard to face and aid station food runs short.

Who doesn’t need it: most people racing under about four hours. For a marathon, gels, sports drink and water are simpler.

Where it fits in your plan

Count it in your carbohydrate plan. At 42 g per pouch, one QC Stamina covers most of an hour’s carbohydrate at the 60 g an hour many ultrarunners aim for, and its sodium counts towards your sodium plan too. Don’t stack it on top of a full hour of gels without adjusting.

Common questions

Is it a replacement for gels?

For the hour you take it, it can replace most of your gels. Many runners alternate: gels on the move, a QC Stamina pouch at aid stations or drop bags.

Is protein during a race worth it?

In races under four hours, not really. In ultras it earns a place for practical reasons. We go through the evidence in Protein During Ultramarathons: Do You Actually Need It?

How many should I pack for a 100 km race?

A 16-hour race using one pouch every 2 to 3 hours from about hour four needs four to six, mostly in drop bags where you have water to mix them. See our ultra drop bag checklist.

Can I take it with Elec Stamina and Katsuo Stamina?

Yes. Count the sodium in QC Stamina alongside your Elec Stamina. See which one you need for your race.

Should I try it in training first?

Always. A 260 kcal drink sits differently in the stomach from a gel. Test it on a long run in the heat.
